Okay with Being a Fan of D23
I’m excited for Disney 23.  There, I’ve said it… and I can hear some of your responses 😉  But it’s so expensive!… It’s a marketing ploy!… What’s so special about it anyway?!  I know! I’ve said all of those things to myself… repeatedly.  But, the truth is that I think it is neat to be a part of this 21st century Mickey Mouse Club, of sorts 🙂  I LOVE my exclusive lithograph; Im so excited for my “Charter Member” certificate, and, yes, I’ve booked my next Disneyland vacation to coincide with the much touted D23 Expo… and, honestly, I can’t wait!
For me, D23 is somewhat reminiscent of the stories I’ve read about fans gathering at the local cinema – Mickey Mouse doll in hand – and sharing the bond that only Disney can create.
It’s true that this is probably a gaint marketing ploy… but it’s no secret that I’ve never been immune to a Disney marketing “magic.” 🙂 Â I’m excited to see what Disney has in store for D23… and whether or not it is worth my extra dollars to become a member. Â
In the meantime, I will get my daily dose of Disney archives on the D23 website – which even featured my favorite retro showing of Disneyland Showtime with the Osmonds – and the lovely Disney twenty three magazine with it’s stunning photography and interesting articles. Â And, I’ll keep you posted on the benefits I reap from membership ;).

I think the same thing – it really is like a 21st century Mickey Mouse Club. Yeah, it’s kind of expensive, but the quality of the magazines are just gorgeous! I’m a little mad at myself that I didn’t join on day 1 just because I tout myself as this super disney fan, yet I didn’t have enough faith in the program to shell out the 75 dollars from the beginning (and now I won’t ever have that cool day 1 pin LOL) When the years pass, we can always look back at the experiences D23 has brought us (the expo, the people we meet through it, and of course the publication). I think a lot of people are just having a hard time absorbing that since it’s in its first year and so many of the events are in anaheim, but I think we need to realize, if we gave up on Walt’s ideas after 1 year, we would have never gotten this far now.
(ps – this is rachaface from twitter – i didnt know you ran a disney blog!! I’m enjoying reading it! :))
