Sometimes the best Disney memories are the ones created by our loved ones.  I had the chance to spend some time tonight with some of my favorite cousins.  Unfortunately, they live too far away to see too often, but that makes our infrequent visits even more special.  We were talking about Disneyland this evening and our favorite memories made there… trust me, their story was one of the most magical I’ve ever heard.

My cousin was around 8 years old when the family went to the park along with his step-brothers, ranging from 5 to about 10, and his dad and step-mom (I know, there are two many family members to keep up, but they are truthfully all my cousins!).  Being a family of all little boys, they headed directly to Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, eager and excited to traverse through Indy’s adventures.  When they reached the “measuring stick,” the youngest boy was just an inch too short to go ride… needless to say he was devastated.  His mom, however, told him not to worry because he would probably grow an inch by the next day.  As my then 8 year old, now 20 year old, cousin told it… “We came back the next day, and he really had grown!”
Yep, for 12 years the magic of Disney was strong enough for him to believe that at Disneyland you didn’t need shoe lifts, or dress shoes with a little heel… no, the magic of Disney was enough to make your youngest brother grow exactly an inch overnight so he too could experience Indiana Jones in all his glory.
So, for everyone who asks (and Disney fans will know this question), “Why do you like Disneyland so much?”  Well, this is just one of the many reasons.
